Jake Coan (b. 1991, Ghent, NY) grew up in the Hudson Valley, the son of an architect and a potter. After graduating from Bard College with a BA in Studio Art, he designed arts and engineering curriculum for children at Brooklyn Robot Foundry for many years. He currently works full time creating art and lighting fixtures in his studio in Housatonic, MA. Coan’s influences include lamp designer Ingo Maurer, sculptor Isamu Noguchi, fashion designer Issey Miyake, and most importantly; plants, rocks, and light. His work can be found in homes around the world, and have been featured in publications such as Domino Magazine and New York Magazine.
