Bernt Petersen (Danish, 1937 - 2017) was an architect and furniture designer known for his clean and simple lines, predominantly working in lightwood, such as ash and beech. Trained as a cabinetmaker, Petersen graduated from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 1960. He then worked for Hans J. Wegner before opening his own studio in 1963. He taught at Denmark's Design School (1973–78) and was a professor at the The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts (1977–85). Petersen also wrote several books, including “Furniture & Rooms.” Many of his pieces can be found in theatres and concert halls throughout Denmark.
