Hostler Burrows is pleased to present a group exhibition of works by six new gallery artists. Veera Kulju, Mårten Medbo, Jenny Nordberg, Eun-Ha Paek, John Shea, and Nicola Tassie – working in ceramic and glass – approach the process and material from different perspectives. The exhibition will also include the début of work by Paul & Paul – a collaboration between artist and craftsman Paul Benson and interior designer Paul Davis. The exhibition will be on view September 12 through October 4, 2019. An opening reception will take place on Thursday, September 12 from 6 to 8pm.
While at first glance these objects may seem to have little in common, the artists share a commitment to the non-traditional, and the exploration of ideas outside the vernacular. Bringing these works together reveals the realm of possibility of the materials and allows for an interplay of techniques and forms that heighten the experience of the work beyond each individual piece. While many of the artists have a following in their native countries, most are less familiar to New York audiences.
